Commission members take part in Inter-Diocesan Creation Care meetings

    posted on March 3, 2020

ArchIndy Creation Care Commission members Rosemary Spaulding and Sister Sheila Marie Fitzpatrick, OSB have been involved in a new workgroup of diocesan creation care leaders from across the country. Paz Artaza-Regan from the Catholic Climate Covenant is heading up the monthly calls.

The goal of the group is to share best practices, successes, and struggles of the various creation care commissions and/or diocesan offices. Recently the group has been discussing commissions can best serve their local parishes, advocacy activities, solar energy, and how to measure the carbon footprint of a diocese.

In addition to Indianapolis, other participating dioceses include Arlington (VA), Burlington (VT), Worcester & Boston (MA), Chicago & Joilet (IL), Newark (NJ), San Jose, San Diego, & Stockton (CA), Atlanta (GA), New York (NY), Washington DC.

The group has been excited to hear about ArchIndy’s Living Laudato Si’ Sustainability Program and Sister Sheila and Rosemary have returned with many good ideas to work towards improving our care for creation in central and southern Indiana!
