    Saving on Water Fountains

    posted on October 16, 2019

Have you ever thought about the temperature of a water fountain at your school or parish? Likely when you go in search of one, your main goal is quenching thirst!

It turns out that water fountains can run 24/7 to provide cold water, rather than room temperature water. Switching this off, can save a great deal while still being able to quench your thirst!

We talked with Francisco Ruiz, facility manager at St. Mary in Indianapolis.

I got the idea from a friend at Scecina High School while participating in the Living Laudato Si’ Sustainability Program to turn off the cold water on our fountains in the parish center. Now they no longer run all the time – and no one has complained!
